Awesome feature in VentureBeat, about how “The intent of Rally, more than the uniqueness of the use case, is what makes Rally notable.” So what is our intent? Bringing real friends together in real locations, a core value we’ve maintained through the apps creation. Get push notifications of the places your friends check-in to, making it super easy for users to find out where their friends are at and what’s going on. Rally’s focus on bringing social networking back to connections with real friends, the friends you hang out with, text, and call on a regular basis, is what makes Rally stand out. TechCrunch recently featured Rally as the new location based service that “provide[s] a tighter network of people that better reflect a users [real] friends.” Check out the full article to learn more about what makes Rally unique.

It Started at Camp

Rally was started by a group of friends who decided to get into a 30 ft. RV and drive to the Shalom Institute Camp and Conference Center for a week of intensive creativity. We didn’t know what would come out of that week. We were focused on a destination and ended up with an awesome journey. We surfed, ate awesome camp food, consumed a lot of beer and discovered friendships.

When thinking about writing the first blog post for Rally, I searched for pictures of that week. Funny enough, there was hardly anything. A random picture here or there. It turns out we were in the moment. In an effort to capture something I took out my iPhone as we were setting up our machines on our first real day of work. These two minutes capture the fresh faces of friends readying mission control.

The mission was to build a Location Based Service that was cool. The purpose of Rally is to promote real friendships. Our story will unfold over time. And while we have a lot to say about our app and what we’re trying to accomplish I’m going to focus this post, the first post, on friendships. Real friendships.

Here’s a video with some of my real friends.
